Apart from the two stops already announced back in November, Snow Volleyball players and fans can look forward to more opportunities to enjoy the coolest version of the game, as the CEV has confirmed the organisation of additional European Tour stops in Ukraine and Turkey.

A Ukrainian quartet claimed a historic European Tour triumph last year in Wagrain

Truskavets will help break new ground in the sport, as it is due to host the very first European Tour event ever held on Ukrainian soil / snow. Truskavets is a city in western Ukraine and more specifically in Lviv Region – an area where winter sports are extremely popular and that shall play a leading role in Ukraine’s mooted efforts to bid for the organisation of the 2030 Winter Olympics.

Ukraine has already achieved much success in the still young history of Snow Volleyball, doing so quite recently as well when their men’s team (Bokshan/Skukis/Kuzmin/Sverediuk) claimed gold at the second of back-to-back European Tour events held last year in Wagrain – after securing bronze only a week earlier. In doing so, they beat an all-star Russian team including 2018 Snow Volleyball European champion Ruslan Daianov.

The event in Truskavets will run from February 25-27, i.e. one week after the season opener in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey.

Kayseri-Erciyes, a popular ski resort, will return to host a European Tour event for the first time since 2019

The Turkish city of Kayseri will be playing host to a CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour event from March 18-20, 2022. The ski resort at Erciyes is a familiar place for the Snow Volleyball community, since it did already host European Tour stops for three years in a row between 2017 and 2019 before a planned World Tour event in 2020 could eventually not go ahead following the sudden outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

The European Tour stop in Kayseri-Erciyes accounts for the second such event scheduled for this winter in Turkey – as competition will be taking place in Kahramanmaraş in February when the season gets underway. Turkey has embraced Snow Volleyball with much enthusiasm since the very early days of the sport – and achieved significant success with Bugra Eryildiz and Aleyna Vence crowned ‘Queens of the Snow’ back in 2018 before they claimed silver at the inaugural #EuroSnowVolley held in Austria at a time when teams were still playing two-a-side.

The prize money pot at stake for each event will be standing at € 3,000 per gender.

Despite the many constraints and uncertainties still brought about by the pandemic, the CEV continues to work extensively with National Federations and promoters to deliver a Snow Volleyball season filled with opportunities for the teams to play and for fans to enjoy the highly entertaining action on the snow!
