Latvia is the winner of the Silver #EuroLeagueM

The winner of the Men's 2023 CEV Volleyball European Silver League is Latvia! After a match against Hungary, it was Latvia who secured the title and the gold medals.

The first final match of the Men’s Silver League between Hungary and Latvia took place on Thursday when the Latvians were in a better position. They won by 1-3 (25-17, 10-25, 21-25, 11-25) over Hungary and had a nice advantage when going into the second match.

In today’s match, Latvia won over Hungary by 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-18) and in total had a 6-1 result which led them to the trophy! In the whole match, Hungary was leading only twice, by one point – once in the first set and once in the second set. Everything else was a clear domination by the team of Latvia.

The first set created the rhythm for the rest of the match. It was clear that Latvia wanted to secure the title as soon as possible, after all, they had a good advantage on their side. In the first set, Hungary managed to get close in the middle of the set (11-11) but after that Latvia separated and finished their set by 25-21.

Hungary was hungry for this win and they knew this is their last chance to turn things around. They kept a good rhythm with Latvia (9-8) but in the middle of the set they managed to separate once again and created a five-point advantage (14-9). Up until the set it was Latvian domination which ended by a nine-point difference (25-16).

In the last set, Latvia already started celebrating on the wings of their amazing fans in the Arena but Hungary was still biting for at least one set in this match. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and Latvia won the match by 25-18 and took the gold medal and the well-deserved trophy!
