The qualifiers for next year’s #EuroVolleyU17W start with the EEVZA U17 Women’s Championship due to run from November 25 to 28 in Daugavpils, Latvia, with participation of eight teams.

“This is our second participation in a European qualifier and, of course, again time has not been our ally – we have had little training and there have been changes to the coaching staff. The second trainer has changed, but the girls really like to work. So far, we have had two short training camps. Our goal at this competition is to at least claim a victory in our match with Lithuania.”

The Latvian Volleyball Federation and the city of Daugavpils welcome youngsters from Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Poland, Russia and Ukraine.

The Latvian U17 women’s national team is due to play their peers from Poland, Belarus and Lithuania in the pool stage.  Estonia, Georgia, Russia and Ukraine compose the second group. After a single round robin in each pool, the no. 1, 2, 3 and 4 of one group will play those claiming the same position in the other pool to determine the final standing of the tournament.

Together with EEVZA, the local organisers decided that this time the competition will take place without any spectators and in compliance with all COVID-19 preventative measures adopted by the Latvian authorities. The eventual winners will secure their participation in next year’s #EuroVolleyU17W Final Round in the Czech Republic – the next best five from the final standing will continue their journey in the second round of qualifiers scheduled for the spring of 2022.

Live streaming of all matches involving Team Latvia as well as of all those scheduled for the final competition day will be available on the official Facebook page of the Latvian Volleyball Federation @VolejbolsLV.
