Maud Rotar cheering for Amélie – representing her volleyball family

The Rotars are a true volleyball family. In the stands of Scandinavium, Maud Rotar is cheering for her daughter, Amélie, while wearing her daughter’s jersey: number 88, Rotar. Maud is also the mother of French beach volleyball player Téo Rotar, a EuroBeachVolley and World Championship bronze medal winner, while her husband, Tudor Rotar, was a professional player who competed for the Romanian national team as well as for Chaumont and Martigues in France.
Maud herself played for Nantes in the second tier of French volleyball. Now retired, she tries to follow her daughter to every championship. Last year, 2025, was a stellar year for the Rotar family. Téo claimed a bronze medal at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship in Adelaide, Australia, winning France’s first-ever medal at the tournament.
As for Amélie, France reached the quarterfinals of the World Championship in Thailand, where they were eventually beaten by Brazil. Maud’s hope for this tournament is for the team to reach at least the quarterfinals, and that hope is well on its way to coming true after France started the tournament with two wins.
