The city of Ostrava, Czechia, will be playing host to the Final Four of the men’s CEV European Golden League 2025. The event scheduled for the first weekend of July will feature the top four from the League Round involving 12 national teams. A major Volleyball event returns to Ostrava after the very same city played host to the CEV EuroVolley 2021 Men as well as to the Final Four of the women’s European Golden League earlier this summer, thereby cementing Ostrava as a real ‘hub’ of European Volleyball.
“This is another diplomatic success for Czech Volleyball, thanks to which the Czech national team has a great starting position in the fight to move up in the world ranking, which ensures promotion to the prestigious Volleyball Nations League. Earlier this year, we organised the #EuroLeague Final Four tournament for women and for the Czech team it was a stepping stone to advance to the VNL. Now we are creating ideal conditions and maximum support for our men. As the organiser, we are assured of automatic participation for our team and expect the support of full stands. Ostrava was the obvious choice in this respect,” explains the President of the Czech Volleyball Federation, Marek Pakosta.
The 2025 edition of the men’s European Golden League will get underway in early June and as in 2024, each team will contest a total of six matches across three tournaments / weekends – thereby playing at least one round before their home fans.
Roko Sikirić“The Czech Volleyball Federation has a rich legacy of organising prominent Volleyball tournaments, which have demonstrated their organisational prowess and have also drawn considerable attention from Volleyball fans and the media, thereby highlighting Czechia as a thriving hub for our sport."
Ukraine, the reigning champions, are not returning to defend their title as they have qualified for the elite FIVB Volleyball Nations League 2025. In the early summer of 2024, they beat Croatia to secure the European Golden League gold medal.
In the 2024 edition of the competition, Team Czechia finished in third place after losing to Ukraine in the semis before edging Estonia 3-2 in the bronze medal match. As Final Four hosts, Czechia are automatically qualified for the event and should they finish lower than fourth at the end of the League Round, they would replace in the semis the 4th placed team.
