The domestic league finals continued this week with high-stakes action in Italy and Poland, featuring also #CLVolleyM semifinalists in pursuit of national glory. In Poland, Zawiercie couldn’t match the intensity of Lublin, falling in straight sets in the opening match of the PlusLiga final. Meanwhile in Italy, Civitanova bounced back strongly against Trentino to level the SuperLega title series at 1-1.
In the first leg of the Polish PlusLiga final, CEV Champions League Volley semifinalist Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie met an in-form Bogdanka LUK Lublin, who carried the momentum from their dramatic semifinal win over Jastrzębski Węgiel. Lublin seized control from the opening whistle and never let go, securing a dominant 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-22, 25-21) and taking a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series.
Polish outside hitter Mikołaj Sawicki delivered a standout performance for Lublin, earning the MVP award after scoring 20 points, including three aces and two blocks. He was well-supported by Kewin Sasak and Wilfredo León, who contributed 13 points apiece. On the Zawiercie side, Bartosz Kwolek's 11 points led the team but weren’t enough to overcome Lublin’s cohesive and aggressive play. The second match of the series is set for Saturday, May 3.
In Italy, the second match of the SuperLega playoff final saw Cucine Lube Civitanova take the court with renewed focus against Itas Trentino. After dropping the opening match in straight sets, Civitanova responded with tactical discipline and precision, keeping Trentino under pressure throughout to claim a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-21, 25-22) and level the series.
Young Italian star Mattia Bottolo was the top scorer for Civitanova, registering 16 points in a mature and efficient performance. Aleksandar Nikolov followed closely with 12 points. Trentino, who struggled to find their rhythm, saw Gabi Garcia lead with 12 points while Alessandro Michieletto added 11. The third match will take place on May 4, with both teams now equally poised in their quest for the national title.
With both final series heating up, the #CLVolleyM semifinalists remain deeply engaged in their domestic battles. Zawiercie will aim for a strong response in Poland, while Trentino look to recover their form in Italy, setting the stage for more thrilling encounters ahead.
