There is a new addition to the middle blockers for Prosecco DOC Imoco Volley, which announces the signing of Cristina Chirichella, 30 years old, born in Naples on February 10, 1994, bringing 195 centimeters of talent and experience to the team coached by Santarelli.
After many important challenges as an opponent with the Novara jersey, where she played for ten seasons, the former captain of the Italian national team will now wear the yellow and blue of the Panthers to inaugurate the "mature" phase of her career in Conegliano. A reliable champion who will enhance the prestige of the new yellow and blue roster being assembled for the upcoming season. She will wear jersey number 18.
Cristina Chirichella's career began in the 2010-11 season when she joined Club Italia, participating in the Serie B1 championship for two seasons. In the 2012-13 season, she received her first professional contract with Robursport Pesaro in Serie A1, and in the following season, she played for newly promoted Ornavasso. In the 2014-15 season, she started her journey with Igor Novara in Serie A1, contributing to all the prestigious victories of the Piedmont club over the last decade and often playing intense finals against Prosecco DOC Imoco.
Her trophy case includes the 2016-17 championship, the Champions League in the first Superfinal edition in Berlin in 2019 (against Conegliano), three Italian Cups, one Italian Super Cup, the 2023 WEVZA Cup, and the 2024 Challenge Cup.
Her achievements with the national team are also notable: at the youth level, she collected a silver at the U18 European Championship, a bronze at the U19 European Championship, before debuting very young in the senior national team in 2013.
In 2017, she won silver at the World Grand Prix, silver at the World Championship in Tokyo in 2018, bronze at the European Championship in 2019, and in 2021, she became European champion with the Italian team in Belgrade. In 2022, she won gold at the Volleyball Nations League and bronze at the World Championship.
Cristina Chirichella"After ten years in Novara, I felt it was time to turn the page. I needed a change in this phase of my career to seek new challenges, and I believe Conegliano is the best choice. It will be strange because I have practically always played with the same jersey, experiencing many seasons and challenges, often against Imoco. But now, the call from a prestigious club like Conegliano seemed like the right opportunity to find new motivation."
