After an intense Friday of competition, the VW Beach Pro Future Madrid knows the 12 couples that still have a chance to win the gold medal. The Spanish duo Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira, the Austrian pair formed by Laurenz Leitner and Moritz Kindl, Jakob Windisch and Gianluca Dal Corso from Italy and the Dutch tandem Matthew Immers and Mart van Werkhoven won the direct pass to the quarterfinals after finishing first in their respective groups.

After their second victory of the day, Van Werkhoven of the Netherlands said, “We are very happy for playing in Madrid, we like the organisation, the court and the crowd, the people here are awesome. We are happy to have won two games and tomorrow it is important to win the quarterfinals. Now we are just looking forward to that game.

The Italian pair, who defeated their second match rivals in the tie break, pointed out that “We found very difficult the start of the match but we recovered very well, tomorrow we hope to keep our game and improve. We are in the competition and very happy to play also tomorrow.

Adrian Gavira of Spain said they are very happy to have won their two matches of the day. He added that for them it is very important because it feels good to be playing in Madrid as they don't usually have many opportunities to play in Spain and that it is special for them to play at home.

Finally, the Austrian pair of Friedl and Trummer made it clear that they are very happy to continue advancing in the competition and that their trick is to play without pressure. They will face tomorrow's matches without expectations.

The quarterfinals draw will be completed after tomorrow morning's matches where the second and third placed couples in the group will face each other.

Early in the morning the pair formed by Huerta and Jimenez will play against the Venezuelans Hernandez and Hernan, old acquaintances on the court. Afterwards, Austrians and Swiss will face each other, Friedl and Trummer against Métral and Haussener. Then Zemljak and Pokeršnik, the Slovenian pair against Stankevicius/Knasas from Lithuania and to close the morning matches and give way to some exciting quarterfinals, the Latvian pairs formed by Tocs and Fokerots and Rinkevics and Bedritis will face each other.
