Ingrid Tørlen, Norway’s most successful female Beach Volleyball player in history, did deliver on the first day of the NEVZA zonal event in idyllic Oddanesand, Norway. After beating countrywomen Vaigafa/Duesund 2-0, she took down the second seed Klara Ribom/Sara Malmström 2-0 as well, together with her very talented partner Julia Thelle, thus accounting for a simply impressive appearance for a 43-year-old former Olympian.

Other women’s teams to look out for are the top-seed Thurin twins from Sweden and the Norwegians Varga/Kjølberg, who both won their pools.

In the men’s competition, the Swedish young guns Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Hampus Ekstrand had a great day in Oddanesand too. The two physical Swedes, both standing well above 2 meters, clearly won both of their matches. In fact, the top three ranked men’s teams, including Finland’s Pekka Piippo/Vili Topio and Sweden’s Martin Appelgren/Erik Ask, won all their matches and were anticipating an exciting second day of competition in Norway.
