The second day of competition at the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures in Leuven featured the start of the Main Draw, with sunny and pleasant weather conditions to enjoy for the players as well as for the many Belgian fans and tourists passing by, who took their time to cheer on all the athletes.

Belgian youngster Annelore Bex celebrated a historic victory on Friday in Leuven

It was a busy day at Monseigneur Ladeuzeplein for the referees and volunteers, since all of the participating teams played at least one game. While the men’s programme included one match per team only, the women’s tandems finished their duties in the pool stage by contesting two matches each.

With some beautiful rallies, both men’s and women’s teams were able to get the spectators on their feet. There was even a standing ovation for Belgian youngsters Annelore Bex/Jade Van Deun, who won their very first international match on a senior level against Japan’s Sakurako Fujii and Megumi Murakami.

Saturday morning the competition resumes with the remaining men’s matches in pool play before we head into the play-offs and quarterfinals. For those wandering in the city of Leuven, pay a visit, entrance is completely free!
