Futures in Europe
One team from the Netherlands and two from hosts France made it to the podium at this week’s Lille Futures, the penultimate Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour tournament of this category held in Europe in 2025.
As many as 28 teams were in contention at this week’s women-only event held at the airfield of neighboring city Bondues, and Dutch Lisa Luini and Desy Poiesz were the last ones standing, securing their first title on the Beach Pro Tour.
In the gold medal match, the Dutch defeated the home team of Romane Sobezalz and Saofé Duval in straight sets (21-8, 21-14) to frustrate the home fans and finish first in the event.
A second French team made it to the podium in third place as Ophélie Lusson and Alex Merle overcame Germans Sophia Neuss and Mareet Maidhof in the tie-breaker (15-21, 21-17, 15-11) to take bronze.
The last of 25 Futures events held in Europe between May and September will take place next week, when men and women will get on the court in the Turkish city of Balıkesir from Thursday to Sunday.
