Article Fri, Feb 7 2025

This year’s #EuroBeachVolleyU22 will be taking place in Baden, Austria, and unfold in the spa resort right in the outskirts of Vienna from August 7 to 10, 2025*. Baden is universally regarded as a real Beach Volleyball ‘hotspot’, which has been hosting international competitions for some two decades, always doing so with much success. The event experience delivered by the local organisers has been unanimously praised by players, officials, fans and media alike.

*Following changes to the international calendar, the event was eventually postponed to August 14-17, with Baden due to host a Beach Pro Tour Challenge on the previously announced dates at the very same venue.

This is what awaits the rising stars of European Beach Volleyball later this summer in Baden!

It is already the third time in history that the U22 European champions are set to be crowned in Baden, after previous editions of the same event held there in 2017 and 2021. Quite interestingly, the last time #EuroBeachVolleyU22 was held there at the iconic Strandbad, the eventual winners of the men’s competition were rising stars, now reigning Olympic champions David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig of Sweden. Who will follow in their footsteps in early August and cement their status as the next Beach Volleyball sensation?

Last year, #EuroBeachVolleyU22 was held in Türkiye and ended with another Swedish triumph as Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson claimed the men’s title, as Czech twins Katerina and Anna Pavelkova added the U22 crown to their U18 title from 2022.

This year’s #EuroBeachVolleyU22 will be the fourth age-group continental championship contested in Baden, since next to the U22 events organised there in 2017 and 2021, the spa resort did also welcome the U18 tournament in 2019. That event ended with teams from Germany and Russia standing on top of the men’s and women’s podium, respectively.

The event coming up later this summer will further cement the status of Baden as a real Beach Volleyball ‘Mecca’ and provide the local fans with an opportunity to follow and cheer for some of the brightest and most promising talents from across Europe. Stay tuned for another spine-tingling Beach Volleyball experience!

The event in Austria completes the CEV portfolio of age-group events for this year – Corigliano Rossano in Italy and Madrid in Spain had already been confirmed as the venues for the U18 and U20 championships, respectively.
