European teams occupied two of the three spots on the podium of this week’s Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures event held in Geneva, as duos from the continent took silver and bronze in the women-only tournament.
Held between Thursday to Sunday at the lakefront La Rotonde du Mont-Blanc, the event reunited teams from 14 countries, and duos from Lithuania and France were the ones to represent Europe on the podium.
Lithuanians Ieva Dumbauskaite and Gerda Grudzinskaite advanced all the way to the tournament’s gold medal match, but couldn’t handle Americans Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig, who won 2-1 (21-16, 24-26, 15-5) and took the title after starting the tournament in the qualifier.
