Gyumri and Yerevan claim top honours from Armenian national championships

From June 13-28, the Armenian national Beach Volleyball championships were held at the Khachik Asmaryan Beach Volleyball Academy, with participation of 10 men’s and eight women’s teams. These first competed in the pool stage, followed by the knockout phase. The semis and final matches were closely contested, thereby providing a fitting finale to the competition.

Team Gyumri (Vahe Nazaryan and Karen Tigranyan) emerged as the winners of the men’s competition, with Team FIMA (Khachatur Asmaryan and Hayk Baghramyan) securing the second place. Firdusi Kesoyan and Alen Alexanyan – representing the youth national team of the Republic of Armenia – completed the podium. 

Team Yerevan ((Milena Tonoyan/Elizaveta Tonoyan) won all of their matches to crown themselves women’s national champions. Amalya Karapetyan and Vera Mkrdumyan of Arabkir finished second as Team KhMOMM (Narine Hakobyan and Syuzanna Mkrtchyan) settled for the third place. 

The top three teams were awarded with medals, cups, as well as with prize money as follows: 

•    1st place: 200,000 AMD (approx. € 476)  
•    2nd place: 120,000 AMD (approx. € 285) 
•    3rd place: 80,000 AMD (approx. € 190) 

The winners also secured their right to represent Armenia in the preliminary phase of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup 2026.
