Pool B of the CEV Beach Volleyball Nations Cup Men got underway under the best possible conditions in Protaras, Cyprus. The opening day fully lived up to expectations, featuring intense competition and excellent organisation, while rewarding the fans who packed the stands with spectacular action on the sand.

The young Poles are in contention for the top spot in Protaras

The first day of competition, which included two of the tournament’s three rounds, saw Israel and Poland emerge as the standout teams, with their duos recording four and three victories respectively against the teams of Bulgaria and hosts Cyprus.

The Cypriots also had something big to celebrate, as the duo of Anninos-Alexios Chrysostomou and Alexis Savvidis claimed the final victory of the day, defeating Poland’s Mikolaj Kaczmarek and Witold Witkowski 2-0 and delighting the local fans.

Team Israel spiking past the Bulgarian block

As a result, the battle for first place in the pool – and the coveted qualification for the Finals in Budapest (16-19 July) – will be decided in Sunday’s Poland vs Israel clashes (16:00-18:00 EEST). Afterwards, Cyprus and Bulgaria will face off in the last matches of the tournament (18:00-20:00 EEST).

Once again, all matches will be broadcast through the Cypriot Hellas Sat network, while free live streaming will also be available via the official YouTube channels of the CEV and the Cyprus Volleyball Federation (Cyprus Volleyball Federation YouTube Channel).

In addition, the hosts ensured that the tournament delivered a strong sporting message of peace, cooperation, and unity among nations through the celebration of Europe Day on May 9.

The Nations Cup represents another major milestone for Cypriot Beach Volleyball, which continues to grow and aim even higher for the future.

With the trust of the CEV and the valuable support of the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia, the Cyprus Sports Organisation, main sponsor Allwyn, official airline partner Cyprus Airways, sponsors Scaffolding Solutions, Charalambides Christis Ltd and Vassos Eliades Ltd – Nuii, as well as the hotels Flamingo Paradise Beach Hotel, Silver Sands Beach Hotel, Vangelis Hotel & Suites, Vrissaki Beach Hotel and Capo Bay Beach Hotel, together with all supporters of the event, the Cyprus Volleyball Federation once again proves itself an excellent host of major sporting events, capable of providing outstanding conditions for all participating delegations in every aspect.

The players from Israel are yet to concede a single loss in Protaras
