The introduction of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup in 2023 has certainly provided much impetus and emphasised the pivotal role that clubs play in growing the sport across Europe. Many national championships and tours have been homologated since 2023, with the relevant figures increasing with each year. As far as figures are concerned, those registered by the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) are truly mind-boggling, and they will break all previous records with the 2025/2026 season.

The most recent winners of the competition were crowned last year in Bibione

Some 110 clubs are involved in the latest edition of the Italian Beach Volleyball Club Championship, thereby accounting for more than 1,600 athletes across a variety of categories, including age groups (U14, U16, U18, and U20), Masters (35+ women and 40 to 50 for men) and many more sub-groups according to a national ranking system currently in place (i.e. Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Beginners).

This latest edition started in October 2025 with a variety of tournaments and competitions already organised across the Italian peninsula. It will eventually reach its climax this coming May 22-24 with the annual event traditionally contested in Bibione, a popular resort on the Adriatic coast, where some 90 clubs and 800 teams (!) will be coming together for a weekend filled with fun, sun, and Beach Volleyball action! The event in Bibione will involve, among others, 15 supervisors and a group of some 70 referees.

The eventual winners of the elite competition in each gender will secure the right to represent Italy in the Preliminary Phase of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup 2026. There is even more at stake since in each gender the club accruing the highest number of points across all categories will be crowned ‘Italian Club Champion’.

Beach Volley Training from Beinasco, Piedmont, has been the dominant force in recent years. They will be trying to retain their crown once more – while the Beach Volleyball Movement continues to grow and records are continuously broken in terms of both participation and overall engagement!
