After stops in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Bulgaria, Czechia, Latvia, Sweden and Greece, the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour gets to France this week, with a double-gender Futures event being held from Thursday to Sunday.

French Anouk Dupin has won four Beach Pro Tour medals with three different partners in 2025

Home to the country’s national teams, the city of Montpellier will be the stage for the tournament, which is going to be held at the popular Montpellier Beach Volley Club, located at Parc de La Rauze.

Many players who have already won medals in Beach Pro Tour Futures events this season will be in action this week in Montpellier. Standing out among them is 22-year-old French Anouk Dupin, who played in four tournaments with three different partners and made it to the podium in all of them, taking gold in Valencia with Saofe Duval and in Jurmala with Marine Kinna, silver in Madrid with Alex Merle and bronze in Battipaglia with Kinna.

This week, she’ll play with 28-year-old Elsa Descamps, who won bronze last weekend in Geneva with Romane Sobezalz. Duval has also made it to the podium with multiple partners on the Beach Pro Tour this season, as she finished third in Ios with Marilu Pally.

Two teams that won gold will try to do it again this week in France – Czechia’s Martina Maixnerova/Kylie Neuschaeferova, who topped the podium in Messina, and Germany’s Janne Uhl/Paula Schürholz, the winners of the Madrid event.

Completing the list of female medalists competing in Montpellier this week are Estonians Eva Liisa Kuivonen and Liisa-Lotta Jürgenson, who got silver in Jurmala, and Spanish Sofía Izuzquiza, Sofía González and Ana Vergara – the Sofías got bronze together in Kraków, while Izuzquiza also made it to the podium in third place in Sveti Vlas with Vergara.

The women’s tournament in Montpellier will feature 28 teams, coming from 17 countries – France (4), Spain (3), Czechia (2), Latvia (2), Norway (2), Peru (2), Switzerland (2), the United States (2), Argentina, Belgium, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Lithuania and the Netherlands.

Olympians lead the list on the men’s side

Some of the players who will compete in the men’s tournament of the Montpellier Futures have also enjoyed success at the Futures level this season. Topping the list are Austrians Robin Seidl and Alexander Huber, who reunited nine years after representing their country at the Rio 2016 Olympics and have already made it to the podium twice, taking bronze in Battipaglia and Ios.

Austrians Seidl and Huber are the top-seeded team in Montpellier

Experiencing their first season together on the Beach Pro Tour, Germans Robin Sowa and Jonas Reinhardt have also made it to the podium, taking silver in Cervia. Spanish Antonio Saucedo and Álvaro Iglesias, who got bronze in Malmö, and Bulgarians Dimitar Kalchev and Dimitar Mehandzhiyski, who gave their country its first-ever Beach Pro Tour medal, winning bronze at home in Sveti Vlas, are the other medalists entered in the men’s tournament.
