This takes up to three the number of Futures scheduled for this year in Warsaw, with a double-gender competition already confirmed for August 10-13. The additional women’s Futures will run from September 7 to 10 at the very same venue as the men’s equivalent scheduled for the previous week. This accounts for a further valuable opportunity for up-and-coming as well as for more established teams to compete on the international stage and to seize much-needed ranking points counting towards qualification for next year’s Paris Olympics.
New dates for Cervia postponed event
In the meantime, the organisers of the double-gender Futures originally scheduled for this past May in Cervia, Italy, but postponed following inclement weather and the unprecedented flooding experienced in many areas of Emilia Romagna have confirmed that the tournament will now be taking place from September 21 to 24, 2023. This decision is testament to their remarkable resilience as well as to the hard work undertaken by residents and local authorities to ensure a slow return to some sort of normalcy despite the damages caused by the flooding. Since the event in May was postponed after the preliminary inquiry had already taken place, the FIVB and CEV have agreed that the entry list and the resulting confirmed entry list are to be frozen.
