With the completion of the fifth leg of the #CLVolleyM group stage, top teams of the continent will once again begin to focus on their following domestic clash. While this weekend is expected to be relatively comfortable for Polish powerhouses, Perugia in Italy and Fenerbahce in Türkiye will take the court against their huge rivals.

One of the Italian CEV Champions League Volley contenders, Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia will face Cucine Lube Civitanova in the 17th round of the Italian SuperLega. The reigning champions, Perugia is currently at the top of the standings, but they suffered their first and only defeat last week, from Trentino in a thrilling five-setter. They currently have 42 points, and independent of the result of their next clash, they guarantee completing the weekend as leaders. On the other hand, they still highly aim for a victory against Civitanova, since any defeat or point loss will mean a decrease in the gap between the vice-leader Trentino and others.

After receiving an unexpected loss against Germany’s Helios Grizzlys Giesen in #CLVolleyM Group B, Fenerbahce Medicana Istanbul will meet Ziraat Bankasi Ankara in the 16th week of the Turkish Efeler League. Prior to this leg, Fenerbahce side placed sixth with nine victories and 25 points in total. They won their last four games, and now their biggest goal is to climb to higher ranks. This weekend will be a good opportunity for them since the Ziraat side lead the charts with a 13-2 winning record and 40 points. The third-ranked Halkbank and fourth Spor Toto will also face off this weekend, therefore a lot of change might happen in the top places.

A relatively comfortable weekend awaits Polish CEV Champions League Volley squads: Both Jastrzebski Wegiel, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, and PGE Projekt Warszawa will hold their fights as the clear pre-favorites, and they will all aim for a straight-set victory. All the top three positions in the charts have been filled by these clubs, but the gaps can be easily closed with any result. Thus, all of them should be quite careful and play at a high level.

This weekend, the focus will shift to domestic league matches across Europe, but especially in the huge battles in Italy, since Perugia will face Civitanova, aiming to maintain their lead. Likewise, Fenerbahce in Türkiye will take on the league leader, seeking to improve their sixth-place standing after a strong recent streak. These critical matchups promise significant impacts on domestic league standings.
