CEV Champions League Volley 2024 | Women
Pool E is probably the most balanced pool in CEV Champions League 2023/24, with all four squads who can have the chance to clinch the spot for next round.
A very balanced Pool E is approaching, with Romanian CS Volei Alba Blaj, Polish LKS Commercecon Lodz, Ukrainian SC "Prometey" Dnipro and French Volero Le Cannet, four good teams who played in last season’s CEV Champions League edition with good results.
SC "Prometey" Dnipro is a strong team, who can count on former Serbian national team player Bojana Milenkovic, gold medal with Serbia at EuroVolley 2017 and 2019, and silver medal in 2021, one of the most representative players of Dnipro, together with Ukrainian national team players as Diana Meliushkyna, Krystyna Niemtseva and Svitlana Dorsman.
They will try to give their best looking forward next Champions League stage.
In last season of CEV CL the Ukrainians finished in 12th place, tied with their Pool E opponent CS Volei Alba Blaj.
French team Volero Le Cannet, coached by Danilo Pejovic, are the champions of France, and despite the bad start in Ligue A (2 wins and 2 losses for Le Cannet) early in this season, they could be one of the outsiders of Pool E.
Le Cannet can count on 18 year old Russian middle blocker Anastasia Lyashko, veteran outside spiker Bulgarian Eva Yaneva and Russian opposite Viktoriya Russu, all players who can make the difference even at the top European level.
CS Volei Alba Blaj is the only non-Italian and non-Turkish team that have made the final of the CEV Champions League in the last eight editions.
The Romanians clinched the CEV Champions League 4th Round spot by hosting the 2nd Round on the home turf at Alba Blaj Arena, defeating 3-1 Czech Kralovo Pole Brno in front of the enthusiastic home crowd (1100 noisy fans), reaching the Pool phase of Champions League, now ready to battle for next round.
Coached by Serbian Stevan Ljubicic, head coach of Bosnia and Herzegovina national team at last EuroVolley 2023, Blaj is a team with good potential, able to do something important in this Pool phase, looking forward to step up to next level.
LKS Commercecon Lodz are the defending Polish champs, probably the favourite team in Pool E, playing such a good volleyball with polish national team middle blocker Kamila Witkowska, and two veteran and experienced players as Italian opposite Valentina Diouf and Brasilian outside spiker Amanda Francisco.
Coached by Italian head coach Alessandro Chiappini, LKS Commercecon Lodz looks forward to reach the first place in the Pool, after the good Champions League campaign in last season, eliminated at Playoffs but finishing in ninth place in the Final Ranking, tied with Pool E opponent Volero Le Cannet.
This is for sure one of the more balanced Pools in the upcoming Champions League edition, with all four teams who can have the chance to clinch the spot for next round.
