The top two sides in the women’s Italian volleyball, A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano and Allianz Vero Volley Milano, delivered an exciting game, as promised, in the Italian Supercup, with 7.750 fans flocking to the Modigliani Forum di Livorno to watch the match on Saturday evening.

Once again, A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano, proved why they are considered a true dynasty in Italian volleyball, clinching yet another trophy, with a clear 3:1 win over their rivals, in the first clash between the projected top two sides in Italy this season.

For their sixth consecutive Italian Supercup title, Conegliano provided some entertaining moments, taking the first set, 26:24, after a hard-fought battle, between losing the second one, 21:25, as Allianz Vero Volley Milano surprised their opponents with an excellent efficiency, with their new transfer and former Conegliano player, Paola Egonu, shining on the court.

Egonu did finish with 21 points, as Allianz Vero Volley Milano’s top scorer in the match, but the next two sets were once again controlled by the Italian champions, with Conegliano’s stars taking over.

Joanna Wolosz, Conegliano’s captain and the MVP of the game, directed her teammates in superb fashion, while Isabelle Haak (25 points) and Sarah Luisa Fahr (14 points) constantly pummelled Milano’s defence, scoring crucial points in pivotal moments of the match.

Taking the next two sets, 25:23 and 25:20, Conegliano crowned themselves the Italian Supercup winners for the sixth time in a row and the seventh time in history, with coach Davide Santarelli extending his excellent run in 2023, when he also won the CEV EuroVolley Women, the FIVB Women’s Nations League and also took the Paris 2024 Olympic Games ticket with Türkiye.

"I feel so happy and proud for my team, it was a very difficult match between two very strong teams. Milano is a really well-built team, with many stars, so I am very happy with this result. We're not at our best still, we've come from a long summer and we still have to find our rhythm. Maybe we made some mistakes, but we reacted great: we played an extraordinary match," said Joanna Wolosz, after the match.

Conegliano have now won the last five editions of the domestic league, the four last Italian Cups and the last six Italian Supercups.
