News
This weekend, the primary season of the Turkish national league finished, and the Eczacibasi side completed the season as leaders without receiving any failures. At the same time, all semifinalists were determined in Italy with the last clashes of the quarterfinals, and no surprises happened.
One of the SuperFinalists of #CLVolleyW this year, Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul, visited Ilbank in the last round of the Turkish Sultanlar League. With a comfortable game from beginning to end, Ferhat Akbas's squad became victorious by a score of 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-20). Thanks to this victory, Eczacibasi managed to win all 26 matches they played in the regular season and finished the first phase at the top.
Croatian opposite Samantha Fabris (16), Turkish internationals Saliha Sahin (13), and Beyza Arici (12) were the most productive players of the match.
Similar to Eczacibasi, other CEV Champions League Volley squads VakifBank Istanbul and Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul, also won their last clashes in straight sets and placed second and third, respectively, at the end of the main season.
All semifinalists became clear in Italy after the last quarterfinal clashes. While A. Carraro Imoco Volley Conegliano, Igor Gorgonzola Novara, and Savino Del Bene Scandicci secured their spot in the semifinals by winning the series by 2-0, things were more challenging for Vero Volley Milano.
After two five-setters with one victory apiece, Vero Volley Milano and Trasportipesanti Casalmaggiore again faced off. Except for the third set, the Milano side played a better game and won the match and spot in the semifinals by 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21).
American opposite Jordan Thompson became the battle's top scorer with 31 points, while Miriam Sylla and Jordan Larson tallied 13. Emiliya Dimitrova's 26 points were not enough for the victory on the losing side.
The Polish Tauron League continued with the first battles of the semifinals. The teams who completed the primary season in the first two places, LKS Lodz and Developres Rzeszow, had no difficulties against their rivals. With three-set victories, they started leading the semifinal series by 1-0.
We are getting closer to knowing which squad will be the champions of Europe's most elite national leagues, and the top teams once again showed how much they wanted to be on top of the standings with their performance and ambition in the regular season and playoff stages.
