For the third time in history, A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano are the champions in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, securing their third title in history, after the ones clinched in 2019 and 2022.
It was a total domination from the Italian side, which swept their opponents in sublime fashion, winning all their five matches in straight sets, including the semi-final against domestic rivals Numia Vero Volley Milano.
First, there was no question about Conegliano’s push for the semi-finals, as they beat Brazilian side Dentil Praia Clube Uberlandia (25:20; 25:15; 25:15), Vietnamese side LP Bank Ninh Binh (25:16; 25:8; 25:15) and Japanese side NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki (25:21; 25:20; 25:19), winning all their three pool matches in straight sets.
The semi-final against Numia Vero Volley Milano was another show of strength from Conegliano, whose depth and experience worked wonders to propel the reigning CEV Champions League Women title holders to a 3:0 win (25:23; 25:14; 25:23).
Chinese star Zhu Ting and Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak each had 15 points, followed closely by opposite hitter Gabi Guimaraes, who had 12 points.
But Conegliano had another challenge in the final, facing Chinese side Tianjin Bohai Bank, another team which was undefeated and did concede a single set on their way to the last act, where they were boosted by the home court, as the competition was played in Hangzhou.
Yet Conegliano proved once again why they are the top team in the world right now, extending their winning streak this season to 23 matches in all competitions, with a fascinating performance.
Haak added 25 points to her tally on her way to the MVP crown at the 2024 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, with Zhu Ting scoring 14 points and Gabi Guimaraes adding 10 more, with Conegliano running away with the trophy thanks to yet another 3:0 win.
There were no pressure moments really for the Italian side, which clinched the first set in convincing fashion, 25:21, with the other two sets won even easier, 25:15 and 25:20, as Conegliano secured their third title in history, becoming the third team to do so, after Turkish powerhouses VakifBank Istanbul and Eczacıbaşı Dynavit Istanbul.
With a clear 3:0 win over Dentil Praia Clube Uberlandia, Numia Vero Volley Milano secured the third place in the final standings.
Haak was named the MVP of the competition for the third time in her career, after receiving the honours also in 2021, when she was featuring for VakifBank Istanbul, and in 2022, when she had already switched to Conegliano.
