Galatasaray Daikin Istanbul first finalists of #CEVCupW

Galatasaray Daikin Istanbul confirmed their place in the final of the CEV Volleyball Cup 2026 | Women after defeating C.S.O. Voluntari 2005 in straight sets once again. The Turkish side claimed a convincing 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-8) victory in the return leg played in Bucharest.

In a one-sided contest in Bucharest, Galatasaray dominated from start to finish, mirroring their performance from the first leg in Istanbul, where they also secured a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-15, 25-19). The experience gap between the two sides was evident throughout both matches, with Voluntari managing just 79 points across six sets, including only 31 in the second encounter.
Galatasaray set the tone early, opening with a 3-0 lead and extending it to 8-3 and 11-6. Although Voluntari briefly reduced the gap to 11-8, the visitors responded with a 5-1 run to move ahead 16-9, before comfortably closing the set 25-13 to take a 1-0 lead.
The Romanian side edged ahead at the start of the second set (1-0, 2-1), but Galatasaray quickly turned the score around to 3-2. Maintaining aggressive and precise play, the Turkish team surged to a commanding 10-4 lead and later 20-7. They sealed the set 25-10, securing not only a 2-0 lead but also their ticket to the final.
The third set started evenly, but after 4-4, Galatasaray delivered a decisive run to 18-4, effectively putting the match beyond doubt. The set concluded at 25-8, confirming another straight-sets victory for the Turkish powerhouse.
Alexia Carutasu was named MVP of the match, contributing 12 points (including one block, 54% attack efficiency). Myriam Sylla led all scorers with 15 points (one block, 67% positive reception, 58% attack efficiency).
On the home side, Hannah Duchesneau was the top performer with 7 points.
Galatasaray also dominated statistically, recording 59% positive reception compared to Voluntari’s 29%, while leading 9-0 in blocks. The Romanian side, however, committed significantly more errors (17-8).
