Huge Comeback From Warszawa Against Jastrzebski, 82-Point First Set Between Milano and Monza

This weekend, the top teams of the continent took the court for the first time of the year, and especially, all eyes were on the battles between #CLVolleyM squads. In Poland, Warszawa overpowered Jastrzebski with a historical comeback from 0-2, and Milano took a crucial victory against Monza, with an extraordinary first set.

Without a doubt, one of the most anticipated clashes was held in Poland, between the two powerhouses of the country, CEV Champions League Volley teams Jastrzebski Wegiel and PGE Projekt Warszawa. Jastrzebski side started to match quite powerfully and took the 2-0 lead in sets without any difficulties. Starting from the beginning of the third set, the Warszawa side pushed their limits and began to play at a higher level, and managed to tie the score to 2-2. In the decisive tie-break set, Warszawa kept their momentum and became victorious with a score of 3-2 (21-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-19, 15-10).

The MVP of the game, Bartlomiej Boladz put a game-changer performance: After entering the court in the second set, the Polish outside hitter became the top scorer of the winning side with 14 points, and surely led his team for the comeback. Polish superstar Tomasz Fornal’s 13-point performance was not enough for victory on Jastrzebski side. Despite receiving a defeat from their closest follower, Jastrzebski still placed on top of the charts with a total of 48 points, but now the gap has decreased to only two points with Warszawa.

The Italian CEV Champions League Volley clubs, Mint Vero Volley Monza and Allianz Milano faced off in the 15th round of the Italian SuperLega. Both teams put a great effort into the court from the first ball to the last, but especially, there was a huge fight in the first set: Both teams could not find a 2-point lead for a long time, and in a set lasted for 47 minutes, Milano found 1-0 lead by a score of 42-40. The second and third sets were also quite challenging and worth following, but even though Milano struggled quite a lot, they left the court with a 3-0 (42-40, 28-26, 25-23).

Belgian opposite Ferre Reggers once again shone with his performance: With a 56% attack percentage, he became the most productive player on the winning side. Canadian opposite Arthur Szwarc tallied 20 points in Monza. Milano, therefore, took their eighth victory in 15 games and maintained their sixth position. Monza dropped to 12th and last place in the overall standings.

Things went quite well for Turkish #CLVolleyM squads in the first leg of the second half of the Turkish Efeler League: Both Fenerbahce Medicana Istanbul and Halkbank Ankara defeated their opponents with three-point wins and kept their top positions in the charts.

The highlights of the weekend occurred in the games between #CLVolleyM teams, with Warszawa’s historic turnaround against Jastrzebski and Milano’s nail-biting opening set against Monza. As teams continue to deliver such strong performances, all eyes will surely be on their journey throughout the season. We will see what 2025 will bring to them.
