THY ISTANBUL is set to compete both nationally and internationally in the 2023/2024 season. The team’s new head coach Jose Roberto Guimaraes has previously achieved much success with the national team of Brazil – winning Olympic gold in 2008 and 2012 – and many clubs, making him a prominent figure in the sport. He helped Fenerbahce ISTANBUL secure their only triumph in the CEV Champions League back in 2012. He coached the men’s national team of Brazil to a historic gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
In a statement, THY Sports Club President Ahmet Bolat expressed his delight at bringing a coach of this calibre to their team. “We are thrilled to have someone like Jose Roberto Guimaraes, one of the most successful coaches in world volleyball, to join our team. We expect our team to become stronger and achieve successful results in the upcoming season.”
