The third round of the #CLVolleyW came to an end yesterday, and the winner of a thrilling five-setter, Potsdam will now start to prepare for their new domestic match. At the same time, in the most anticipated clash of the weekend, the top two teams in the charts will face off in Italy, where Imoco will visit Novara.

The reigning domestic champion, A. Carraro Imoco Volley Conegliano will meet Igor Gorgonzola Novara in the tenth round of the Italian Serie A1 Women. Imoco is currently on the lead and has yet to receive any failures, and they will definitely want to continue their streak against their closest follower. CEV Challenge Cup participant Novara side has been showing an impressive performance this season in Italy: They took eight wins in nine matches, and now they are placed in the vice-leader position.

After defeating Rzeszow by a score of 3-1, Imoco maintained their top position in Pool D of the CEV Champions League Volley. Now, the goal for Daniele Santarelli’s squad will be to increase the gap among their opponents in the domestic league as well. On the contrary, the Novara side will try their best to catch Imoco and put an end to Imoco’s winning streak.

The third round went in the best way for the other Italian #CLVolleyW teams: Vero Volley Milano and Savino Del Bene Scandicci beat their biggest rivals in their group, VakifBank Istanbul and Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul, respectively. Now, they will all focus on their new domestic fight, but a clear victory is expected for both teams since they face relatively weaker opponents.

SC Potsdam, the German club that won their last battle against Calcit Volley Kamnik in five sets in the most prestigious tournament in Europe, will visit VfB 91 Suhl in the eighth week of the German 1. Bundesliga.

Potsdam only received one failure in the national season so far, and they are second in the overall standings at the moment. Winning this match is crucial for them since two more teams, Dresdner SC and Allianz MTV Stuttgart, also have the same record as them. In addition, it is important to close the gap with SSC Palmberg Schwerin, the only undefeated team in the country, and any shocking defeat will result in a higher difference with the leader.

After passing their strong opponents in the third matches of the CEV Champions League Volley group stage, the Italian powerhouses will hold their domestic challenges this weekend with aiming victories. Potsdam will definitely want to continue their top-notch performance in the national league, which they showed against Calcit Kamnik yesterday. You should definitely keep an eye on Germany and Italy, especially for the Imoco-Novara battle, to watch some high-level volleyball.
