Imoco visited Bosca S.Bernardo Cuneo in the seventh round of the Italian Women’s Super League. Even though the encounter was not expected to be this intense, Cuneo put such a great effort on the court and took a 2-1 lead. However, led by Paola Egonu, Imoco showed their quality and won the tough battle in the tie-break (3-2: 22-25, 25-15, 20-25, 25-18, 15-8).

With this victory, Imoco extended their winning streak to 73 matches and tied the Guinness World Record for consecutive victories of a women’s volleyball team. The joint record holder is VakifBank Istanbul for now, as they won 73 times in a row between 2012-2014. This also means that Imoco can set a new all-time world record if they win their next match.

Italian superstar Paola Egonu didn’t let the streak end and became the top scorer of the fight with a total of 30 points. On the Cuneo side, 22-year-old Russian outside spiker Sofya Kuznetsova tallied 23 points, followed by French opposite Lucille Gicquel with 16.

Maja Aleksic stood out with her huge performance, including five blocks - the Serbian middle blocker took 20 points. Emily Thater’s 15 points were not enough for Nancy to change the course of the game.
