Maritza Plovdiv’s 117th consecutive win in Bulgaria’s National Volleyball League (NVL) delivered the seventh consecutive championship title for the club from Europe’s oldest living city and secured the Yellow-and-Blues’ spot in the pool stage of next season’s CEV Champions League Volley - Women.

On Wednesday evening, Maritza victoriously closed the gold medal playoff series against Kazanlak Volley and for the first time had the opportunity to lift the champions’ trophy at home, in Plovdiv. Coach Lazar Lazarov’s girls defeated their opponents in straight sets – 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-14), after a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-22) shutout in Kazanlak two days earlier.
Lazar Lazarov“There is no easy final! Kazanlak’s team is a great young squad. We need more teams like that in our league. Our success is the result of the efforts of the entire Maritza Plovdiv family. We have a selection of some wonderful girls, who are the future of our Volleyball in the coming years.”
