As the countdown continues toward the highly anticipated #CLVolleyM Final Four, the domestic playoff battles across Europe remain just as intense. This weekend, attention turns to Italy, where Perugia look to book their place in the finals, and to Poland, where the semifinal stage gets underway featuring two of this season’s continental semifinalists.
In Italy, Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia and Cucine Lube Civitanova are locked in a gripping SuperLega semifinal series. Perugia, one of the #CLVolleyM semifinalists, started the series in dominant form, sweeping the first match 3-0. The second game, however, revealed Lube’s resilience, where they forced a dramatic tie-break, though Perugia ultimately held on to take a 2-0 series lead. In the third clash, Lube turned the tide—grabbing a 3-2 victory and extending the series to a fourth match.
The momentum is shifting, and now both teams are preparing for a high-stakes duel. Perugia are just one step away from a spot in the finals against Itas Trentino, while Lube will fight to stay alive and push the series to a decisive fifth game. This fourth match promises to be a battle of nerves and strategy, as Perugia aim to capitalize on their advantage and Lube look to build on their recent success. With a place in the domestic finals on the line, expect nothing less than top-tier volleyball between two of Italy’s finest squads.
Over in Poland, the PlusLiga semifinals are set to begin with two CEV Champions League Volley semifinalists at center stage. Reigning Polish champions and recent domestic cup winners Jastrzębski Węgiel, who topped the regular season standings, comfortably dispatched Norwid Częstochowa in the quarterfinals. They now take on LUK Lublin, fourth in the league table, in what promises to be a high-octane series. Jastrzębski will look to assert themselves early and continue their dominant form.
Meanwhile, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie—another standout #CLVolleyM semifinalist—will face a challenging semifinal test against PGE Projekt Warszawa. Warta swept Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in the previous round and aim to carry that momentum into their semifinal campaign. Warszawa, the second-best team in the regular season, will present a stern challenge, making this a key matchup to watch.
With both Polish and Italian clubs chasing domestic glory and continental dreams, this weekend sets the stage for thrilling volleyball across Europe.
