Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI advances through to Finals of #CEVCupW

After the Italians of Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI made an important step towards the Finals of the CEV Volleyball Cup 2023 last week (0-3 win), today they lost against Turkish THY Istanbul by 3-2 (25-21, 18-25, 26-24, 23-25, 15-10). When looking at the total result, Savino had 3-5 so they’ve advanced to the Finals of #CEVCupW.
Something that Savino was really good at was killer blocks they had 18 in total, while THY had ten of them. On the other, a team from Istanbul showed their skills in a number of aces since they had eight of those, while Savino had five.
The first set was pretty equal on both sides whereas the only time where THY managed to separate was at the very end of the set (21-17) and locked the set with four points of the advantage. The second set started off strongly by Savino with 0-5 on the scoreboard. They were hungry for the win since they knew that they already have a 0-3 win from the first match. They just needed a little bit more in order to advance through to the Finals. And in this set, they for sure did that. With 3-10 and 8-16, they soon enough came to the finish of it by 18-25 and they were relieved for a moment.
The third set was a complete nail-biter. It was a classical cat-and-mouse type of play where it was played completely point-by-point. Both teams were on top of their game and the set ended 26-24. In the fourth set we really saw what was Savino capable of. In that set alone, they had seven killer blocks! They started off with a slight advantage (5-9) and kept it until the middle of the set when THY closed upon them (15-16). Still, Savino managed to lock this set and they could’ve already started celebrating because they knew that mathematically they have advanced into the Finals.
The energy of the Italians sort of dropped in the last set (5-1) but they knew that they are already in the Finals. They tried to keep it up but in the end, it was 15-10 for the team from Istanbul. It didn’t matter because Savino was already celebrating their placement in the Final of the CEV Cup.
The opponent of Savino in the Final will be a better team in tomorrow’s match of C.S.M. TARGOVISTE and CS Volei Alba BLAJ, where Alba BLAJ has a 0-3 advantage from the first match.
