Gas Sales Bluenergy PIACENZA are ‘only’ two sets away from claiming the ultimate victory in this year’s #CEVCupM. On Wednesday evening, starting at 8 pm local time, the ‘Biancorossi’ will play their second matchup with Germany’s SVG LÜNEBURG. The match will be refereed by Suleyman Yalcin from the Netherlands and Raquel Portela from Portugal. The local PalabancaSport is sold out for a highly anticipated final night of action.

Paolo Porro was the Most Valuable Player of last week's first leg in Germany

At stake is the CEV Volleyball Cup, Europe’s second-most prestigious club competition. In the first leg, played a week ago in Germany at the LKH Arena in Lüneburg, Gas Sales Bluenergy PIACENZA stormed to a comprehensive 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-16) victory. The hosts could secure their first European trophy if they win by any score or take at least two sets, whilst a 3-0 or 3-1 defeat would see the match continue into a Golden Set. The Germans are contesting the last stage of the CEV Cup for the second time in their history – they did lose to Poland’s Asseco Resovia RZESZÓW back in 2024.

PIACENZA middle blocker Robertlandy Simon: “We need to put the result of the first leg behind us and, in fact, take to the court thinking we did not win that match and that we have to give our all to win this one. Ours is a young team and if we do not think this way, everything becomes more difficult. It will be important to have the right approach right from the first rallies; we are facing a good team that has nothing to lose. We are ready for our final match of the season, which for some will also be their last here in Piacenza, and we want to finish on a high note. The crowd can give us a big boost; it’s great to play the final leg of a final in front of our own fans.”
