The final stages of domestic league action intensified this weekend with crucial matches in both Poland and Italy. The #CLVolleyM semifinalist Zawiercie fell short once again against Lublin, who now hold a commanding 2-0 lead in Poland. Meanwhile, Italy’s Trentino took control of the title series with another powerful display, defeating Civitanova in straight sets to go ahead 2-1.
In the Polish PlusLiga final, CEV Champions League Volley semifinalist Aluron CMC Warta-Zawiercie entered the second leg hoping to respond after a tough opening loss. However, Bogdanka LUK Lublin continued their exceptional form, showing clear superiority throughout the match. Dominating from the service line and controlling the net, Lublin left no space for Zawiercie to respond and sealed another emphatic 3-0 win (25-14, 25-21, 25-14), bringing themselves just one victory away from a historic title.
Wilfredo León led the way with a commanding MVP performance, tallying 19 points with two aces and two blocks. His consistency and power gave Lublin the edge throughout. Kewin Sasak and Mikołaj Sawicki supported well with 10 points each. On the Zawiercie side, no player reached double digits, with Aaron Russell finishing as the top scorer with nine. Lublin now look to finish the job on Wednesday, May 7, while Zawiercie will fight to stay alive.
In Italy, the third match of the SuperLega final series between Itas Trentino and Cucine Lube Civitanova was another showcase of high-level volleyball. After both teams traded 3-0 wins in the first two encounters, expectations were high for another balanced clash. However, Trentino displayed remarkable focus and execution, taking control early and never looking back to win in straight sets (3-0: 25-22, 25-18, 25-18).
Kamil Rychlicki led Trentino’s charge with 16 points, combining power and precision in attack. Daniele Lavia and Alessandro Michieletto also contributed effectively, each scoring 12 points. On the Civitanova side, Turkish opposite Adis Lagumdzija was the only player in double digits, finishing with 11. Trentino now hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series, with the fourth match scheduled for Wednesdat, May 7.
With both Lublin and Trentino one win away from domestic titles, the pressure is rising in Poland and Italy. The coming week promises thrilling action as the national champions could be decided in the next round of matches.
