Snow Volleyball News
Snow Volleyball did steal the show at the 63rd edition of the Italian Winter University Championships, where a national title in the youngest and coolest version of the Volleyball game was at stake for the first time. The team Organizzati QB Amici del Fiume Torino Team clinched the gold medal at Campo Smith in Bardonecchia, with Cus Venezia and Cus Camerino completing the podium.
Matteo Carlon“We are happy with our participation in Bardonecchia for the Winter National University Championships. It is very important to join a multi-sport event like this for the growth of our discipline. We strongly believe that Snow Volleyball is suitable for everyone: it can involve many young people from all over the world, even from countries where winter disciplines are usually not in the spotlight. Thanks to CUS Torino for their involvement and for inviting us.”
The Snow Volleyball competition in Bardonecchia was run by Snow Volley Italia in collaboration with CUS Torino, organiser of the annual multi-sport championships organised by FederCUSI (Italian Federation of University Sports). It did follow a rather unconventional format, with mixed teams of up to four players competing, and at least one female on the court at all times.
Riccardo D'Elicio“The National Winter University Championships in Bardonecchia and the Snow Volleyball tournament were a great success, a new sport was in fact combined with skiing! Thanks to FederCUSI for having awarded CUS Torino the rights to host this important national event. Many thanks also to the Municipality of Bardonecchia, Colomion and Snow Volley Italia for the support and trust shown. Around 350 athletes, including those involved in skiing and Snow Volleyball, took part to the event.”
