This past weekend, the girls of Team Van crowned themselves Armenia’s U20 Snow Volleyball champions in a competition that featured as many as eight teams and was contested between February 2 and 4. The event followed shortly after the ‘senior’ national championships organised a week earlier by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) in Tsakhkadzor, which featured 10 women’s and eight men’s teams.

Team Van have repeated their success from a week before

The participants showed much enthusiasm throughout the U20 championship held at the Beach Volleyball Academy named after Khachik Asmaryan. The trio of Milena Tonoyan, Amalyan Karapetyan and Elizaveta Tonoyan of Team Van from the country’s capital, Yerevan, emerged as the eventual winners. The very same team had topped the final charts at the ‘senior’ national championship a week ago as well.

Team Avan-1 (Inga Karapetyan, Sofia Sargsyan, and Milena Margaryan) finished the competition in second place after putting up a fight worthy of a gold medal match in the final against Team Van. Team Avan-2 (Mane Davtyan, Seda Matevosyan, Susanna Yesayan, and Ani Baghramyan) completed the podium.

Eight teams contested the U20 event at the Beach Volleyball Academy run by the VFA

The top three teams were awarded with certificates, medals, cups, and the best individual athletes were presented with additional gifts by the VFA.
