World and European Tour stops in Kahramanmaras and Sivas cancelled following devastating quakes

This week, the southern section of Türkiye and neighbouring Syria were shaken by devastating earthquakes which have already claimed thousands of lives. Therefore, the FIVB and CEV – together with the Turkish Volleyball Federation – have agreed upon cancelling the events of this year’s Snow Volleyball season, the World Tour event originally due to take place from February 23-26 in the city of Kahramanmaras and from March 10-12 in Sivas. The same applies to the European Tour stop scheduled for March 3-5 in the city of Sivas as well.

Under the current circumstances, it becomes obviously impossible to go ahead with the planning and delivery of such major sporting events.

At this stage, priority goes to rescue efforts undertaken to support thousands of people. The Volleyball community extends the most heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those that have lost their lives as a result of this devastating quake and a speedy recovery to the injured ones. We all keep the Turkish nation and its people in our thoughts and prayers, while wishing much strength and resilience to the many officials and volunteers currently involved in the relief efforts on the ground.
