Begüm Kacmaz is slowly but surely establishing herself as the rising star of Turkish Volleyball. The middle blocker, born in 2007, is already showing exceptional skills and maturity despite her young age. Most recently, she did help the Turkish national teams qualify for the final stage of this year’s #EuroVolleyU18W as well as of the U20 continental championship that will follow later this summer too.

Kacmaz combines physical and technical skills with an enormous motivation and sense of responsibility

Her resume is an ever-growing list of accolades. Begüm received the award for the best middle blocker at the U17 European and Balkan Championships as well as the U19 World Championships – competitions that she did all contest in the summer of 2023 alone.

At just 17 years of age, Kacmaz continues to develop her game, and it appears obvious that the future is bright for this talented young athlete. Kacmaz’s performance and contribution to the national team will be an important way to measure her further development. Begüm, who is also the captain of the U18 national team, brings with her a great sense of responsibility.

Kacmaz is the captain of the U18 national team that recently qualified for the final stage of 'their' European Championship

Last year she managed to crown herself a World champion in the U19 age group.

“We have the best middle blockers in the world in our national team. Zehra Güneş, Eda Erdem, Kübra Akman, Aslı Kalaç. I want to learn from all of them and become a good player – competing at their same level. When I received the individual award at the U19 World Championships, Zehra Güneş sent me a message and we had a nice conversation. I was very happy to receive such praise from a player who is my idol.”
