Croatia and Montenegro poised to host #EuroVolleyU20M in 2027
News
The National Federations of Croatia and Montenegro will deliver the 2027 edition of the CEV U20 Volleyball European Championship – Men further to a decision taken by the CEV Board of Administration early last week. Osijek, Croatia, and Montenegro’s capital city, Podgorica, will be the host cities of this event in the summer of 2027.
Croatia has a wealth of experience in the organisation of European and even World age-group championships. Last year, Osijek did indeed play host to the Girls’ U19 World Championship together with Vrnjačka Banja in Serbia. As for Montenegro, this news follows on last week’s announcement that the Balkan country will be delivering the pool phase of the CEV EuroVolley 2028 Men (click here) – which accounts for an unprecedented feat in the history of Montenegro and of the local sports family as a whole. With more such age-group competitions already organised with much success, the Volleyball Federation Montenegro has built a reputation as a reliable partner in such endeavours, with a clear commitment to the development of Volleyball at all levels.
This project also holds special importance due to its regional cooperation, as the championship will be organised jointly by Croatia and Montenegro. The shared organisation represents an important step in strengthening sporting ties and cooperation between the two countries, while also contributing to the further promotion of Volleyball and the development of young players in the region.
The #EuroVolleyU20M in 2027 will bring together the best U20 national teams in Europe, while Podgorica and Osijek will host a major sporting event that will significantly promote Volleyball as well as the two host cities and countries.
“We very much look forward to working with both National Federations – as well as with their local partners in the cities of Osijek and Podgorica – to deliver an event where the rising stars of European Volleyball will continue to make a name for themselves. The most promising talents from 16 National Federations, including the home teams, will convene in Osijek and Podgorica to test their skills and add another chapter to their journey in the sport as they try to establish themselves as a force to reckon with to ensure a bright future for European Volleyball,” says CEV President Roko Sikirić.
France are the defending U20 men’s European champions after securing gold in 2024 in Serbia and Greece where Bulgaria and Czechia completed the podium.
