A #EuroVolleyU17M qualifier is due to take place this week in Kutná Hora, Czech Republic. Originally, the Czechs were due to host a four-team pool, but unfortunately, Georgia could not make the trip after some of their players tested positive to the novel coronavirus. Therefore, the Czechs will be playing the Netherlands and Belgium for a spot in the Final Round scheduled for later this summer in Albania.

The original plan for organising this qualifier was clear – help the young Czech players secure their ticket to #EuroVolleyU17M with the help of many fans at Klimeška hall. In the end, however, the spectators will not have access to the Kutná Hora hall due to the measures in place to curb the spread of the virus. Still, live streaming of all three matches will be available on the official YouTube channel of the Czech Volleyball Federation (YT channel: CeskyVolejbalovySvaz).

Belgium are probably the hottest favourite to claim first place in the pool and their matchup with Czech Republic is an eagerly anticipated one. However, since the runners-up may reach the Final Round as well, each set and rally will be equally important.

During the past three weeks, the Czech team played friendly matches against players from the Czech extraleague. In Kutná Hora, Volleyball players strictly observed anti-COVID measures and stayed in a bio-secure bubble. All participating teams will have one more round of tests before the tournament officially begins on Friday, May 7, at 5 pm with the matchup between the Netherlands and Belgium.
