Everything is set for the Final Round of this year’s #EuroVolleyU18W, which will get underway on Monday, July 1 in Blaj, Romania and Heraklion, Greece. The rising stars of European and world Volleyball from the top 16 teams in Europe in this age group are coming together for their continental championship. After completion of the pool stage, the semi-finals and finals will also take place at the Alba Blaj Arena, a state-of-the-art and modern venue built by local authorities in the Transylvanian city.
A day before the official start of the competition, a press conference was held at the Alba Blaj Arena, attended by the coaches and team captains of the eight teams drawn in Pool I. They were joined by Lubomir Ganev, a member of the CEV Board of Administration and Jury President of the event, Adin Cojocaru, President of the Romanian Volleyball Federation, and Sergiu Ștefănescu, President of Volei Alba Blaj and a representative of the local authorities / Organising Committee.
“We are honoured to host a tournament of such significance. Blaj thanks the European Volleyball Confederation and the Romanian Volleyball Federation for entrusting us with this event. We will strive to meet the highest standards,” declared Ștefănescu.
“Blaj has proven many times that it can host a tournament of this magnitude. We hope to witness the best Volleyball and an enjoyable spectacle, and I am confident that the participating teams will appreciate our hospitality,” added Mr Cojocaru.

Volleyball is a beloved sport in Romania, and this tournament will further connect the public with this wonderful sport.”
Pool I of the tournament in Blaj will kick off on Monday, July 1, with the following matches:
• 12:00 PM: Italy vs. Croatia
• 2:30 PM: Slovenia vs. Belgium
• 5:30 PM: Spain vs. Romania
• 8:00 PM: The Netherlands vs. Serbia
At the press conference, attended by the eight coaches - Yorick Vande Velde (Belgium), Svetlana Ilic (Croatia), Michele Fanni (Italy), Ivo Munter (Netherlands), Adrian Radu (Romania), Danijela Kijac Vulović (Serbia), Samo Miklavc (Slovenia), and David Sanchez Flor (Spain) - the trophy for the eventual winners was also unveiled.
The trophy was guarded by two Roman soldiers from the Legio XIII Gemina of Alba Iulia. The captains of the eight teams in Pool I posed with the trophy, all expressing their determination to compete for the European Championship title.
