The third week of the CEV EuroVolley Silver League Men 2025 delivered pivotal results and shifting momentum as teams battled for position ahead of the decisive final week. With the action split between Sandur in the Faroe Islands and Kecskemét, Hungary, the week was marked by strong performances from Hungary and Austria, while Sweden and Luxembourg remained in the top four of the standings, thanks to their earlier efforts.
In Sandur, the Faroe Islands hosted a dramatic three-day tournament. The hosts opened with a tough 1:3 loss to Azerbaijan, who bounced back from a difficult start to the competition. Austria then asserted their credentials with a commanding 3:0 sweep over Azerbaijan, keeping their hopes of a finals berth alive. The week closed with Austria overcoming the Faroe Islands 3:1, a result which kept Austria in play and saw the hosts concede any chance for the final.
Meanwhile, in Kecskemét, Hungary, the home side continued their unbeaten run, sweeping Iceland 3–0 (25:11; 25:14; 25:20), before overcoming Georgia in straight sets (25:9; 25:17; 25:16) in a dominant display. Hungary’s consistent form, now at four wins from four matches, has put them in prime position to challenge for a spot in the two-legged final scheduled for early July. Iceland managed to edge Georgia in a five-set thriller, but they are out of contention.
Elsewhere, Sweden and Luxembourg, who sat out this week’s action, remain in strong positions. Sweden, with four wins from four and no sets dropped, continue to lead the league, while Luxembourg’s earlier victories keep them in the hunt for the finals as well, being fourth.
Sweden (4-0), Hungary (4-0), Austria (3-1) and Luxembourg (3-1) are the only teams to still be in the hunt for a place in the final.
With just one weekend of league play remaining, to be held in Tbilisi and Amstetten, the race for the two final spots is wide open. Hungary and Austria have momentum, but Sweden are unbeaten so far, with the three teams facing of in Amstetten. Luxembourg will be left eyeing any mistake, when they take on Georgia and the Faroe Islands.
