This past Sunday was a truly special day for the French Volleyball family, with players and teams flying the country’s flag high by completing a full collection of medals from major events within the space of a few hours only. The U19 men’s national team crowned themselves World champions for the second time in a row in Tashkent, Uzbekistan – and their younger, U16 colleagues secured bronze at their continental event in Yerevan, Armenia. There was a silver medal to celebrate as well since Clémence Vieira and Aline Chamereau only lost a dramatic tiebreaker in the CEV EuroBeachVolley 2025 gold medal game contested in Düsseldorf, Germany.

France further cemented their status as a real Volleyball powerhouse as their terrific run of success in age-group competitions continued in Uzbekistan – where on Sunday they beat Poland in the final to retain the U19 world title previously claimed by an older generation of players. In doing so, France became only the third country – after Brazil and Serbia – to claim back-to-back titles in this event since its introduction in the late 80s.

Vieira and Chamereau were close to securing yet another gold medal for France but they eventually conceded the tiebreaker in the EuroBeachVolley final where they played Ukraine’s sensation Maryna Hladun and Tetiana Lazarenko. Regardless of the outcome, France and Ukraine would each have accounted for a historic feat – since neither country had previously won a women’s EuroBeachVolley title. Vieira and Chamereau enjoyed a great run in Düsseldorf where they won the hearts of many fans and eventually equalled France’s best result to this day in the competition – a silver claimed by Anabelle Prawerman and Cécile Rigaux in 1999 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

France’s ‘Super Sunday’ included also the bronze medal won by the U16 men’s team at the historic continental championship hosted by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia in Yerevan. France has previously emerged victorious from their pool but lost 2-3 to Spain in the semis. The youngsters regrouped for the bronze medal match with Poland, thereby making sure that the Les Bleus would complete a full collection of medals from international events on a single day!
