Madrid, Spain, May 6, 2019. On Saturday, May 4, CVB Barça BARCELONA and Minis de Arluy VB LOGROÑO played their third match in the finals of the Spanish women’s national league, aka Liga Iberdrola. The week before, the team from La Rioja had secured two wins, so this was the last chance for Barça to remain in contention for the title. However, Minis de Arluy VB recorded a 3-0 victory (25-17, 26-24, 25-18) at the SEK Internacional Catalunya to further extend their reign in domestic competitions.
Despite their efforts and very solid performance, Barça could not stop the reigning champions and after losing a close second set, they paved the way towards gold for their rivals.
Daniella Da Silva was the Most Valuable Player of the finals, an honour she had already claimed in 2014 and 2017. This is the sixth straight national league title for LOGROÑO and their fifth ‘hat-trick’, since earlier this season they had taken the Supercopa as well as the Queen’s Cup titles, thus making history for Spanish Volleyball.
