Montenegro previously delivered – doing so with much success – #EuroVolleyU18W back in 2013 together with Serbia, and showed much resilience and determination to organise the latest edition of #EuroVolleyU17W in the fall of 2020, right in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.
After contributing to the international success achieved by the former Yugoslavia with some truly legendary players such as Igor Vusurovic, who won Olympic gold at Sydney in 2000, Montenegro has established itself as a strong Volleyball nation on its own as well – qualifying for the final stage of CEV EuroVolley Men in 2019 as well as in 2021.
Aleksandar Boričić“After the success of the U17 women’s competition held in October 2020 in Podgorica, I am sure that our friends in Montenegro will use all their experience and sense of initiative in order to deliver one more successful high-standard competition, thus offering young players the opportunity to compete at international level and continue their development."
Cvetko Pajković, President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, commented: “We appreciate the trust shown by the CEV in confirming us as hosts of the next U17 Men’s European Championship. It is a great honour for us to host the best European Volleyball players of that age. We will do everything to organise this championship in the best possible way, and at a level even higher than we did with the U17 women’s competition we hosted last year. We will use this opportunity to promote men’s Volleyball in our country. Our goal is to involve as many boys as possible. We already wish all visitors a pleasant stay in Montenegro, we will do our best to make them feel comfortable and we cannot wait to get together again.”
Earlier this summer, Slovenia claimed a historic #EuroVolleyU17M crown in Tirana – where Volleyball powerhouses Russia and Poland completed the podium.
