Rostock and Bologna claim Volleyball titles at European Universities Games in Hungary
News
The atmosphere at the Generali Sports Hall was just incredible for the final matches of the Volleyball competition at the European Universities Games 2024 (EUG2024), which ended earlier this week in Debrecen and Miskolc, Hungary.
The first final was contested in the men’s category, where the suspense reached its peak. After the first set was won by the University of Brno (CZE), the University of Rostock (GER) responded by winning the next three. The final set was extremely close, almost setting the tone for a tie-break, but in the end, the University of Rostock emerged victorious and became the new EUG champions!
In the women’s competition, despite the tenacity shown by the team from the University of Zagreb, it was not enough to claim the EUG title from the reigning champions of the past three years. Thus, the University of Bologna (ITA) added to their impressive and ever-growing list of accolades with two EUSA Championship titles to claim a second consecutive European Universities Games title.
As for the individual prizes, the MVP was assigned to Adam Porvaznik from Brno University of Technology (CZE) and to Silvia Ioana Coman from Ovidius University (ROU).
Finally, the Top Scorer awards went to Balazs Majoros from the Hungarian University of Sport Sciences (HUN) and to Marie Nevot from the University of Rennes (FRA).
