Spain and Belgium are on the winning path at the 2026 #EuroVolleyW Qualifier.
On Wednesday, the Spanish ladies clinched a second win in this phase of the competition, proving better than Georgia (3-0). Belgium, on the other hand, outclassed Denmark in straight sets as well.
In Pool E, Spain were unstoppable in their match against Georgia, clinching their second win at the 2026 #EuroVolley Qualifier.
The players around head coach Pascual Saurin needed only 55 minutes to record a straight-sets victory (25-9, 25-8, 25-12), proving better on all counts of the game, and leading throughout the whole match without facing any big issues. Only the beginning of the third set was a more tied one, but the Spaniards, in front of home crowds in Guadalajara, did not leave any chances to their opponents.
Statistically, Spain dominated on all counts, finishing with 34 winning spikes (to six), five kill blocks (to two), six aces (to zero).
Saurin gave a chance to almost all of his players to enter the court. Lucia Varela Gomez and Carla Jimenez Ruiz both finished as top scorers for their team, with eight points each.
Later that day, Belgium recorded their first victory in Pool B, outclassing their opponents of Denmark at 3-0.
The team of head coach Kris Vansnick did their job right at 25-19, 25-17, 25-23. While controlling the game throughout most of the time in the first two sets, the ladies of Belgium lost their rhythm in the third one. Denmark were seizing their chances, and it looked like the Volleyball fans in SC Lange Munte Kortrijk would enjoy at least one more set. However, Belgium showed nerves of steel, and after being behind in the result, could equalise at 18-18. Following an intense “battle” on the court. the player of Vansnick could prevail and congratulate themselves with the victory.
Overall, the Belgians were better on all Volleyball components, finishing with 50 winning spikes (to 35), five to three kill blocks, seven to five aces. Denmark, however, could record more on their opponents erors (14 to 11).
Pauline Martin was above all with 17 pts. (61% exc. in attack). For Denmark, Maria Mogensen finished with 12 (52% exc. in attack).
In the other match of the day, Greece proved better than North Macedonia (3-0).
On the men’s side of the competition, Belgium outclassed Austria at 3-0, Slovakia did the same against Kosovo (3-0), and Sweden outplayed Spain (3-0).
