Sweden set sights on #EuroLeagueW finals

Sweden and Hungary will lock horns again on Wednesday in Örebro following the 3-2 away victory recorded by Isabelle Haak & Co. this past weekend inv Kecskemét. The Swedes need a victory on home soil to seal their spot in the final of the #EuroLeagueW – whereas a win by any score for Hungary would result in a Golden Set to be played to determine which side advances to the final stage of the competition.
Swedish middle blocker Elma Olofsson has been playing for the local club in Örebro for two seasons now, and this summer she is enjoying her first campaign with the national team. Therefore, Wednesday’s match is going to be special for her in several ways: “Winning the first match was the most important thing, because at this stage it is the victories that matter. We showed that we can play at a very high level for long periods, even though there are still details we want to improve before the return match. Our focus now is on our own performance and making sure we show our best Volleyball from the very first point,” she says.
“I expect another close and tough battle. Both teams know what is at stake, so I am sure the fans will see high-quality Volleyball. Personally, it has been an incredible experience to be part of the national team for the first time. I have learned so much this summer, and it is extra special with the European Championship on home soil later this year. Returning to Örebro is also very special for me after playing there for two seasons. The fans have always been amazing, and I am looking forward to playing in front of them again. They can really make the difference, so I hope the arena will be full on Wednesday.”
Both Sweden and Hungary recorded six wins in as many matches they played in the #EuroLeagueW League Round. By finishing among the top four, they also both qualified for the CEV EuroVolley 2028 more than two years ahead of time.
