Today's match between Sweden and Belgium in the Golden #EuroLeagueW was a thrilling encounter that captivated fans and showcased the spirit of competitive volleyball. In the end, it was Sweden who took the new win and new points with 3-1 (25-23, 26-28, 25-23, 25-15). Belgium is definitely through to the Final Four of this competition, but Sweden as well as they are the best-ranked second-placed team.
Sweden opened up the first set with a clear 3-0 on the scoreboard and they kept the lead up until the very end of the set, as Belgium couldn’t turn around the game in their favor. They were always close, with 2-3 points behind but it was Sweden with 25-23 who closed the first set.
Completely different, but then again, the same game, we were watching in the second set. This time the true winner was Belgium. They opened the set with 0-2 and Sweden was constantly super close to them but couldn’t break through Belgium’s defense and were always just a little bit behind. With 25-25 on the scoreboard, it was obvious that we are looking at a truly exciting match but it was Belgium who took the set by 26-28.
The third set was going in the favor of Sweden as they were constantly in the lead by 2-3 points and they kept that advantage up until the end of the set which they won by 25-23. Sweden knew how much this win could mean to them if they take it, and they proved that they truly deserved it in the last set. With two aces and a strong lead (11 points at one point) they closed the set by 25-15 and proved to everyone, once again, what this team could do.
The situation in Pool A is as follows: Belgium is first with nine points, Sweden is second with eight points, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is last with one point.
