Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL finish MEVZA League main round on a high note

Vienna, Austria, February 12, 2021. MEVZA League Final Four hosts Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL defeated HAOK Mladost ZAGREB 3-0 (25-20, 34-32, 25-21) in their last game of the Main Round on Thursday night.

“It was a mega match that spectators would have enjoyed very much,” commented Werner Hahn, Manager of the Austrian club. “Congratulations to the team. This victory is a positive end to the MEVZA League main round. From now on, the focus is fully on the next three games against UVC Holding GRAZ, SK Zadruga AICH/DOB and VCA AMSTETTEN NÖ in the national league.”

Zdenek Smejkal, head coach of the Austrian team: “We were finally able to win another game at home. I am very happy with the attitude of the team. Today we put much pressure with our service game and attacks.”

Marek Sulc top scored for the home side with 17 points, as Kruno Nikacevic registered 19 for Mladost in their losing effort.

The Final Four of the MEVZA League will take place on February 27-28 in Zwettl.
