TRENTINO Itas - Asseco Resovia RZESZÓW
- At the ilT quotidiano Arena in Trento on Wednesday, January 17, the sixth and final round of Pool B of the 2024 CEV Champions League will be played, featuring a challenge between first-ranked Trentino Itas and third-ranked Asseco Resovia Rzeszow.
- Trentino Itas, still with full points and the only undefeated team in Pool B, will host the Poles to end their journey in the Main Phase without defeat.
- Asseco Resovia played their last match in Trento 14 years ago. Giampaolo Medea's team will enter this match with great ambitions. After the last loss in Tours, the Rzeszów team wants to show good play and win against the higher-ranked Trentino Itas.
- Jakub Kochanowski will not play in the match due to an injury. He will be replaced by a player from Asseco Resovia's youth team.
TRENTINO Itas
- Trentino Itas comes to this match strong of its top ranking in the SuperLega as well and is currently the team with the best ranking among the first-place finishers in the Champions League group stage.
- A win with any result against Asseco Resovia would allow it to become the No. 1 seed in the Final Table of the 2024 CEV Champions League Play Offs.
- Having already won Pool B with one round to spare, Trentino Itas is already certain of qualifying to the quarterfinals.
- Considering all European competitions played, Trentino Volley has so far taken the court for 168 official matches: the record is 134 victories (68 in Trento, 66 away) and 34 defeats (28 in Champions League, 5 in CEV and 1 in Top Teams Cup).
- The most frequently achieved result is 3-0, in 48% of cases (81 matches, 48 of them at home); the one that occurred the least number of times is the 0-3 defeat (eight times).
- Taking into account also the ten participations in the Club World Cup (between 2009 and 2014 and then in 2016, 2018 and 2021), there are 214 international matches played by the Club from via Trener: 135 away, 79 in Trento.
- Trentino Itas will take the court for the first home game of the 2024 CEV Champions calendar year with a full roster.
- Compared to the previous week's game, opposite player Nelli and middle blocker D'Heer have also recovered.
- Marko Podrascanin (Trentino Itas player): "Our path in the Champions League has been perfect so far, but we cannot look back because we absolutely need another win to get the best possible ranking ahead of the Playoffs. We will play giving our best as always to overcome a team like Rzeszow that will do the same."
- Fabio Soli (Trentino Itas Head Coach): "The beauty and the difficulty of this competition is that there are no predictable matches, because the access criteria to the Playoffs table impose even to the teams already qualified for the quarters, like ours, to always and in any case seek the best possible result . Beyond the ranking logics, we want to offer another high-level performance to continue our growth process and to consolidate the certainties of the game that we showed in the first five European matches of our season. Resovia is a very good team, which has a very high individual quality and can still qualify for the Playoffs: I am sure they will take the court to give their best, as they did in the first match.
Asseco Resovia RZESZÓW
- Asseco Resovia returns to Trento for the first time almost 14 years after the only previous occasion: on March 3, 2010, the first leg of Playoffs 6 was played in Trentino Volley’s arena and the hosts won 3-0.
- A total of four matches have been played against each other by the two teams, all won by Trentino Itas (3 in Champions League and 1 in Fivb Club World Championship 2018).
- Alfredo MARTILOTTI (Asseco Resovia RZESZÓW): "I'm excited to play against the Italian team. This is the first time since I live abroad. I am very happy and excited at the same time thinking about this match. Unfortunately, at the moment our situation is not what we expected. The importance of this match is certainly lower than we expected at the beginning, but it is there. A victory against the current Italian champion would be very nice for us. (...)
There are a few players I know from previous teams - Podrascanin and of course Kozamernik, who has been with us for the last two seasons. I consider them friends. There are also two boys from my hometown. (...) Also Lavia and Laurenzano are from my city, so I can say that I have four out of seven friends on this team, not just opponents. I know them very well and I will definitely try to pass on their characteristic moves to our players. (...) We certainly have less pressure now than in last match, so I think we can play a very good match."

TRENTINO Itas - Asseco Resovia RZESZÓW
- Trentino Itas closes Pool B with a loss, its first at home, giving in at the tie break against Asseco Resovia Rzeszow, a team that already in the first set (accomplice to Tours' victory with Ljubljana) knew it had no more chances to pass the round but still played its game until the end, regaining the initial disadvantage, going ahead 2-1, before being caught up and winning in the fifth set.
- MVP of the match turned out to be Torey Defalco, the Polish lineup's setter who had started the match on the bench and then, aided by Cebulj's injury, became the evening's big star with 14 personal points and 63% in attack.
- For Resovia, this is the first win against Trentino Volleyball in five matches played so far; the previous four it had lost all, including the only one played in Trent on March 3rd, 2010
- The match marked Trentino Itas' first home loss of the season after 10 straight wins. Trento had not lost at home since last April (Game 3 of Scudetto semi-final with Piacenza).
- Trentino Itas will return to the court in the second half of February to play the CEV Champions League quarter-finals against the winner of Tours-Berlin.
- The MVP of the match was Torey Defalco, who scored 14 (12/19) points - 63% in attack.

- Jan Kozamernik (Trentino Itas player): "It was not a very continuous performance on our part but Resovia played a great game and deserved the victory. However, it was important for us to make it to the tie break to be among the top three."
- Fabio Soli (Trentino Itas Head Coach): "We knew we could suffer against Resovia because this is a team with great individuality that can put anyone in trouble. Tonight it succeeded thanks to its batting, but the reaction shown in the fourth set is still important."
Asseco Resovia RZESZÓW
- Asseco Resovia no longer has the opportunity to get out of the group, but Giampaolo Medei players fought to win this match until the end.
- Asseco Resovia was the only team in the group to win the match against Trentino Itas. For the Rzeszów team, this is the first victory against the Trento team in five matches played.
- The next match Asseco Resovia will play against the winner of the match Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie – Allianz Milano.
- Klemen CEBULJ (Asseco Resovia): "Yes, it was a really great match. Today we played just like in Warsaw in Poland - from start to finish together, as a team. That really makes a big difference... that we played as a team. Everyone who was on the curt gave the best they could. (...) I was happy that we were playing here in Trento. I have a lot of friends here because I played here for a year. It's great to win the match, and even better here. Now we wait until everything is sorted out and we continue to fight. (...) Of course we keep fighting. Important matches ahead of us."
- Giampaolo Medei (Asseco Resovia Rzeszów Head Coach): "It was a bit of a strange game, looking at it from my team's point of view, because we have injured players and that also affects the technique. But we are working to improve our playing style and attitude on the court. Apart from the start of the first set I am very happy with this result and how we performed on the court."
- Lukasz Kozub (Asseco Resovia Rzeszów player): "This is a big victory for us even though we are not going to play the next round of the Champions League. It’s a pleasure for us to win against the Italian Champions, it’s very important for us as a team to achieve this win. Everyone of us is happy and proud of every player of the team."
